Where Locals Eat in Savannah, by the Places They Name Most

We read a year of Savannah locals answering "where should I eat?" and counted. A diner in an old laundromat came out on top.

Locals in Savannah send people to a diner in an old laundromat more than anywhere else. Most of the places they name are nowhere near River Street.

We read the 2026 food and drink threads on the Savannah subreddit, about 190 of them, and counted which places came up. Here are the ten named most that have a page on this site.

Savannah neighborhood kitchens the tourist lists skip

  • Savannah Fried Chicken on Bona Bella Avenue. Locals say it has fried the best chicken in the city since the 1980s.
  • Sweet Spice on Waters Avenue, a Jamaican counter and the first name up for spicy food.
  • Quinn's on Drayton Street, the top answer for breakfast. Many locals still call it Henry's.
  • Taqueria El San Luis on the Southside.

Where Savannah locals eat late

These post hours past midnight. Bandana Burger is open until five in the morning. Spudnik serves potato bowls until 3:30 in the morning on its late nights.

How we counted Savannah local mentions

A mention is a lead. It tells us a place exists and that people are going. It does not prove a detail like "dog friendly", so we still check those against the place itself.

We also used the Savannah Magazine Best of Savannah 2026 readers' poll, published in August 2026. Sixteen places on this site won or placed in it, and each one shows that on its own page.

Counts come from public posts on the Savannah subreddit in 2026, read through a public archive on 6 October 2026. We paraphrase and never name the people who posted.
