Tybee Island is Savannah's beach, and 25 places on this site are on it. The fastest way to choose is by which side of the island you want.
Before the bridge: the Tybee seafood locals name first
Bubba Gumbo's is at the marina on Lazaretto Creek, just before the last bridge onto the island. When locals were asked for Tybee seafood in 2026, the answer was nearly the same every time.
The Crab Shack is on Chimney Creek. Its motto is "Where the Elite Eat in Their Bare Feet", and it has a gator lagoon and a kids-only menu.
The ocean side of Tybee
The Deck has a back deck over the sand. North Beach Bar and Grill sits between the lighthouse and the beach. Wind Rose Cafe is a few doors from the pier.
The Back River side of Tybee
A-J's Dockside is on the Back River, the quiet side away from the ocean, with sunset over the water.
Check A-J's before you go. Locals said in 2026 that it was sold and being renovated, and its website has a security problem, so we do not link it. We could not confirm it is open.
Tybee bars away from the beach
Huc-A-Poos is set back from Highway 80, nowhere near the beach strip. Readers voted its pizza the best in the Savannah area in 2026. Sea Wolf sums itself up as oysters, dogs and fancy cocktails.
For a dive, try Nickie's 1971 or Sand Bar across the street from it. Doc's Bar is the one with blues and rock bands.
Tybee coffee, pizza and ice cream
The Surfing Goat is a coffee and bagel shop by the pier. Farace's Finest is a pizza shop a block off the pier. The Sugar Shack is the ice cream stop on First Street.
What closed on Tybee Island
Gerald's Pig and Shrimp closed in May 2022 when its owner sold the property. The Tybee Island Social Club is gone too, and Treylor Park Beach Party opened in that building in 2024.
Eight Tybee places on this site are confirmed open by WTOC's list of Tybee Island Restaurant Week in August 2026. The rest have a working website and hours, and we are still looking for a dated 2026 post for each. You can help us check.
