Does Savannah Have MICHELIN Star Restaurants? No, and Here Is Why

Savannah has no MICHELIN restaurants because the guide does not cover Savannah at all. It covers Atlanta and skips the rest of Georgia.

No. Savannah has no MICHELIN star restaurants, and it is not because the food fell short. The MICHELIN Guide does not look at Savannah at all.

Why the MICHELIN Guide skips Savannah

The MICHELIN Guide American South covers six whole states: Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. In Georgia it covers metro Atlanta and nothing else.

That was true for the first selection in November 2025. It is still true for the second one, due on 21 October 2026. Savannah chefs have said publicly that they are not happy about it.

The reason is a tourism deal. The guide goes where a regional travel group pays to bring it, and the rest of Georgia was not part of that deal.

Two Savannah restaurants people call "Michelin"

You will see the word next to two Savannah restaurants. In both cases it is about the chef's earlier job, not the Savannah room.

  1. La Vetta opened on Broughton Street in August 2026. Its chef's former restaurant in Italy held a star.
  2. Brochu's Family Tradition in Starland is run by a chef who earned a star earlier in his career.

Neither restaurant holds a MICHELIN award today. Nobody in Savannah can.

What to use in Savannah instead of MICHELIN

Savannah Magazine runs a readers' poll every year. The 2026 results came out in August, and they are a fair read on what the city itself rates.

For one famous room, The Grey is in a restored 1938 Greyhound bus terminal on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
